Did a little bit a of bigger scale of scenery in SFM for practice, and yes the style is very much influenced by DOOM of 2016. 

The title is named Acheron as that is one of the rivers to the Underworld in the Greek mythology of Heracles during his twelve labours quest. He encounters Cerberus (A three headed dog) at the entrance and tames him with ease before making his way to Hades.
